Senior DevOps Engineer

We're currently leading exciting projects across the public sector and defence, and we're looking for experienced, talented individuals to join our mission.

We are actively seeking several Senior DevOps Engineers with a proven track record in one or more of the following key areas:

• Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). You have a deep understanding of CI/CD principles and extensive experience with tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.

• Cloud Infrastructure. You possess significant hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Openshift, including advanced knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools like Terraform.

• Containerisation. You are an expert in containerised architectures and have worked extensively with Docker and the Kubernetes ecosystem.

• Version Control. You are a proficient user of Git and have led or contributed significantly to team-based development, including complex branching strategies, peer reviews, and approvals.

• Programming & Scripting. You have a solid grasp of scripting and automation using languages like Python or PowerShell, along with advanced Linux skills.

Technical Expertise

We're seeking someone with a proven track record in one or more of the following areas:

• Cloud Infrastructure: Extensive use of AWS for cloud infrastructure, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform. Experience within the Ministry of Defence’s MODCloud environment is highly desirable.
• Containerisation & Orchestration: Built around Docker and the Kubernetes ecosystem, including deployment and management of clusters using EKS, extending to hybrid/edge environments with EKS Anywhere, and using Rancher for multi-cluster Kubernetes management.
• GitOps: Integral to continuous delivery workflows, specifically through ArgoCD, driven by strong proficiency in Git and CI/CD pipelines managed via GitLab.
• Virtualisation & Baremetal: Incorporates traditional VMware environments and direct Baremetal deployments for specific performance or security requirements.
• Automation & Scripting: Key, primarily using Python or PowerShell within Linux environments.
• Cross Domain Solutions: Experience of dealing with Cross Domain capabilities, such as Data Diodes and secure streaming technologies.
• Secure By Design: Experience with MOD’s JSP453 and Secure by Design Processes and building system to meet MOD’s strict security requirements.
